Here are a few from my personal collection earlier in the year. Now I must say I’ve recently been very close to the arctic circle (in winter time), which you can imagine is bloody freezing. But… I can honestly say that the 45 seconds I spent out on the observatory deck of the Empire State building trying to get a twilight shot over Manhattan are without question, the coldest 45 seconds of my life (courtesy of the polar vortex, January 2014). My low-light handheld technique (security doesn’t allow for tripods) is probably down to me actually being frozen stiff. Other photographs include Brooklyn Bridge, an iced over Boat House lake in Central Park, and of course the friendly Central Park squirrels feasting on acorns and last but not least Neil Young’s tour truck outside Carnegie Hall.
